Check Out Which Celebrities Are Neighbors

Courtesy of Jim Bartsch for Sotheby's International Realty.

It’s a small world, and an even smaller Hollywood. Celebrities tend to flock to certain affluent neighborhoods around the country where they can get space, privacy, and beauty–for a price tag only they can afford. It’s no surprise that Los Angeles is a haven for mega stars, but what may surprise you is that it’s not all about Beverly Hills and Malibu.

The hip neighborhood of Los Feliz, where young renters are flocking to find semi-affordable apartments (well, affordable by L.A. standards), is also a hot spot for the rich and famous. But that’s certainly not the only place where you’ll find more than one celeb.

We’ve rounded up some A-listers who live a stone’s throw away from each other in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Nashville and Washington D.C. Do you think they drop by to borrow a cup of sugar? Read ahead to take a peek at their homes.

Los Feliz: Angelina Jolie

In this very same neighborhood of Los Feliz, Angelina Jolie purchased a historic estate built in 1913 for $25 million. It was previously owned by Cecil B. DeMille, a founder of modern cinema. How much more Tinsel Town can you get?

The six-bedroom mansion exudes old Hollywood glamour and sits on two private acres complete with a gorgeous pool and guest cottage. Perhaps other celebrity neighbors like Ellen Pompeo, Natalie Portman, Will.I.Am, and David Fincher stay over sometimes…. or more likely, they sleep in their own mansions.

Los Feliz: Ashley Benson

In 2018, Pretty Little Liars star bought a house in the trendy L.A. neighborhood of Los Feliz for $1.8 million. Benson also has an apartment in downtown New York City and once owned a house above the Sunset Strip in L.A.

The Spanish-style home in Loz Feliz features stucco archways and breathtaking views of the Griffith Park Observatory from the French doors in the vaulted-ceiling living room. There’s a balcony perfect for sipping coffee and overlooking the hills, and a separate in-law suite downstairs. Reclaimed wood touches in the kitchen drive home the mediterranean feel — much different from the sleek, modern vibe of her NYC place.

Los Feliz: Rooney Mara

Actress Rooney Mara listed her mid-century modern house in Los Feliz in 2017 for $3.45 million. The mid-century steel and glass house was previously owned by Little Big Lies star Alexander Skarsgård. Mara decorated the home in a minimalist all-white scheme, which complimented the sleek architecture.

Los Feliz: James Franco

Just next to Los Feliz in neighboring Silver Lake, actor James Franco listed his two-bedroom, Spanish-style house for $949,000 (a deal for Hollywood). The house comes complete with a writer’s workshop, which is perfect for the actor/director/writer.

The multi-level house is like something right out of Spain with white-washed stucco walls and a terracotta roof. It sits high on a hill offering stunning views from the deck. Inside, a sun-soaked white interior is complemented by wood ceiling beams and tile floors.

Santa Barbara: Ashton Kutcher And Mila Kunis

It seems Ashton Kutcher has not lost touch with his costars. Not only is he married to his That '70s Show on-air girlfriend, Mila Kunis, but the couple lives close by to his “No Strings Attached” co-star Natalie Portman. Kutcher and Kunis recently bought a beautiful beach house in the Santa Barbara area of Carpenteria for $10 million. The home has oceanfront views, a lagoon, and a very cool beachy vibe on the interior.

About 10 minutes away in Montecito, Natalie Portman bought a four-bedroom home for $6.5 million. But ocean views are about the only thing Portman’s house has in common with her former co-star’s.

Made of steel and concrete, this ultra-modern mansion has sleek finishes, clean lines, and floor-to-ceiling windows. While it boasts stunning Pacific Ocean views, it’s more of a garden getaway surrounded by lush foliage and the California hills. It’s quite a change of scenery from Paris, where Portman was living before buying this house!

Santa Barbara: Rob Lowe

Another former neighbor in Montecito is Parks And Recreation star Rob Lowe. The Brat Pack member listed his gorgeous 3.4-acre home for a whopping $47 million. With its own tennis court, swimming pool, ocean views, and a massive lawn, it's the ideal place to host his fellow star-studded neighbors.

TriBeca: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift bought a second home in the New York City neighborhood of TriBeca – right next door to her first. The $18 million townhouse was previously owned by French diplomat Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who was under house arrest in the space in 2011.

The four-bedroom home was designed by famous architect and designer Leopoldo Rosati. It features skylights and even a home theater. The very sleek and modern apartment is much different from her first TriBeca home, which has a grand, rustic vibe that barely feels like you’re in NYC at all.

TriBeca: Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow used to live nearby in her own penthouse. However the star listed the place for sizable $9.995 million. For that price, you could get her oversized windows, skylights, fireplace, and patio. But don’t expect a microwave. The Goop guru does not own one.

Where the food is prepared, is a sight to behold. The kitchen is a heavenly minimalist space with everything dipped in white. Other famous TriBeca residents include Beyonce and Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Studio City: Selena Gomez

Studio City is located on the northern side of the Hollywood Hills, close to Universal Studios – a perfect spot for a Hollywood princess like Selena Gomez. The pop star owns a $2.249 million pad in the neighborhood.

The four-bedroom house has was built in 1951, and has a gourmet kitchen, vaulted ceilings, two walk-in closets, and a pool. The home has an elegant and classic look (think the house from Father of the Bride), which is much different from her former Texas mansion, a grand stone house on 1.5 acres of property.

Studio City: Whitney Port

Studio City suits reality stars as well it seems. Whitney Port didn’t stray too far from “The Hills" when she bought a two-bedroom 1950s ranch-style home in the neighborhood for $1.5 million. On the inside, the house has an open floor plan that lets in plenty of light, and beautiful white beamed ceilings.

On the outside, it is painted a fun green hue. The slightly funky color gives the house a playful, SoCal vibe. Sliding doors in the living room lead out to a kidney-shaped pool for Port and her family to spend lazy afternoons in.

Studio City: Dakota And Elle Fanning

Okay so Dakota and Elle don’t live here anymore, but the famous sister duo grew up in this beautiful Studio City home. When the house went on the market for $2.86 million, we got a peek into their childhood — and it doesn’t seem like it was too shabby!

The five-bedroom house has a pool, beautiful views of L.A., and a claw-foot tub perfect for soaking in after a long day of auditions. It’s proximity to movie studios must have been perfect for the budding actresses.

Beverly Hills: Orlando Bloom

Beverly Hills is filled with all types of architecture. Case in point: Jenner’s classic Mediterranean palace and Orlando Bloom’s modern mansion are both found here. The sleek minimalist house was built in the 1960s, and got a remodel after the actor moved in.

The white structure is one single floor with massive sliding doors that open to unparalleled views of the California landscape, a huge pool, and deck. At night, colorful LED lights illuminate entire space. If this sounds good to you, you’re in luck. Bloom has listed his contemporary abode for $8.9 million.

Hidden Hills: Drake

Drake must really like it in L.A.’s neighborhood of Hidden Hills because he seems to be gathering a real-estate collection of sorts. The rapper purchased the house next door to where he lives $2.85 million. He bought it as a guest house, though it has its own guest house too.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom ranch-style house — and the acre of land it comes on — makes a nice edition to Drake’s Hidden Hills cul-de-sac compound. Though nothing to scoff at, this home is quite modest compared to Drake’s main residence, which has a massive pool with a Playboy mansion-style grotto, a movie theater, and a wine cellar. That one came with a slightly higher price tag; he bought it from Saddle Ranch owner Larry Pollack for $7.7 million back in 2012.

Hidden Hills: Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner also calls Hidden Hills home, along with her mother and sister Kim. The mogul bought a Cape Cod-style mansion for $6 million at the tender age of 18. It was actually her second real estate purchase; she has previously bought a home in Calabasas. Not what your typical teenager splurges on!

In 2018, she sold the house for $6.7 million, but still has another mansion in the same neighborhood. She and her daughter, Stormi, live in a 13,000-square-foot, eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom mansion in Hidden Hills that she bought in 2016 for $12.05 million, Varietyreports.

Malibu: Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo Dicaprio is somewhat of a real estate mogul. He loves to buy, sell, and make a profit. That’s the idea behind his putting one of his (that’s right he had two) Malibu beach houses on the market.

He purchased this 1950s bungalow way back in 1998 with his Titanic money (some of it, anyway) for a mere $1.6 million, and listed it in 2016 for $10.95 million. That’s quite the profit — but as of 2017, the house had not sold. Instead, DiCaprio put it up for rent, asking $25,000 a month. So what would you get for that much money? The answer is amazing ocean views, a deck with a hot tub, immediate private beach access, and a gorgeously decorated house.

Malibu: Julia Roberts

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images Europe; Courtesy of Trulia.

Malibu is a stunning place, so it’s no surprise the stars flock to the California beach enclave. Even America’s sweetheart, Julia Roberts, couldn’t resist the allure. Though it seems she’s taking a break from her Malibu house. The mega-star listed it for rent for $10,500 a month. She bought it not long ago for $3.895 million (quite a bargain, actually), and put it up for rent only a year after purchasing.

If you’ve got the cash, it will get you a 1,620-square-foot ranch-style home (in Malibu blue) with a large desert garden, vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, and gorgeous hardwood floors. Not to mention it comes with a membership to the exclusive Riviera 1 Beach Club. You will have to bring your own furniture, though — the house comes as a blank slate on the inside. Idea: Grab a crew and rent out both Robert’s and DiCaprio’s houses.

Santa Monica: Judd Apatow And Leslie Mann

Comedy duo Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann bought a gorgeous, modern Santa Monica penthouse apartment for $14.5 million. The laid back, beach vibe seems perfect for the funny couple, and the stunning seven-bedroom apartment seems perfect for, well anyone lucky enough to have it.

The sky-high apartment features impressive views of the beach and the city, and includes access to the rooftop. The space used to belong to another Hollywood legend, actor William Holden. Of course, this isn’t the Apatow-Mann family’s only home; they also own a large house in Pacific Palisades.

Santa Monica: Billie Lourd

Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images North America; Courtesy of Trulia.

Also in sunny Santa Monica, actress Billie Lourd has her colorful abode. The daughter of the late Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds, this young actress comes from a long line of Hollywood legends.

It seems she’s looking to move from her bright blue abode, as she listed it for $2.395 million in 2017. Anyone who buys it should know they will own a home that was once named one of the "World's Best Houses" by Art Book 2000.
